Le Mondial du Café Gourmand: A story of an exceptional competition

Conceived in 2021 by Stéphane Henrio and Régis Marcot, this competition was born out of their shared passion for pastry and chocolate. What is his ambition? Sublimate the gourmet coffee by giving it its letters of nobility through subtle and bold agreements. 

Conceived as a stage of expression for pastry chefs, chocolatiers and cooks from all over the world, it offers new generations a space to push the boundaries of traditional gourmet coffee with creativity and excellence. 

Since its creation, the Mondial du Café Gourmand has brought together lovers of gastronomy and coffee under the sign of sharing and innovation. It had the honour of hosting emblematic figures of gastronomy, such as Guy Kenzer, René Meilleur and Jean-Paul Hévin, under the presidency of Lionel Lallement, giving an even more prestigious scope to the event. 

Year after year, the competition has become international, attracting talents who have come to enhance the association between coffee and pastry. This development reflects the exceptional know-how of the candidates and the passion that drives this beautiful gourmet adventure.

5th edition of the Mondial du Café Gourmand: a competition open to professionals

Next November, the 5th edition will be held at the Vannes Chocolate and Pastry Fair, an essential meeting for lovers of sweets and refined flavors.

This 5th edition will have the honor of being presided by Tommaso Foglia, Best Italian Pastry Chef of his generation. Lionel Lallement, M.O.F. Pâtissier, President of the jury will be accompanied by starred chefs, Best Workers of France in cuisine, pastry and chocolate, as well as the World Champion Barista. An exceptional jury to celebrate gastronomic talent and innovation!

Under the theme of fauna and flora, the twelve selected candidates will take a gourmet challenge in front of the public! They will have to sublimate the Café Gourmand by creating 10 refined plates, each featuring four unique creations: a chocolate dessert, a vanilla sweet, a pastry based on choux paste, and finally a delicacy with an irresistibly soft and crunchy texture. To delight the spectators, each candidate will also prepare 2 plates of 12 ultra-gourmet cookies for the public, which will awaken the taste buds and celebrate pastry creativity in a captivating show!
