Otto Tay’s career

Originally from Muar, a small town in southern Malaysia, Otto Tay has turned his passion for pastry-making into a flourishing career that began as a pastry chef in five-star hotels and convention centers in Malaysia. He then became a research and development consultant for a chocolate company.

In 2017, he played an active role in developing the Asian market through demonstrations, training sessions and conferences.

Otto Tay won the World Pastry Cup in 2019 with the Malaysian team, an achievement that marked a turning point in his career.

A pastry inspired by French tradition

In 2022, he opened the Voilà patisserie in Kuala Lumpur with his friend and teammate Loi Ming Ai. This patisserie offers creations inspired by the French tradition, while incorporating local ingredients such as gula melaka, a highly aromatic palm sugar.

Otto Tay is renowned for his expertise in fine patisserie and bakery, as well as for his ability to create innovative and refined desserts. He shares his passion through master classes and consultancy services, promoting the art of pastry-making in Asia and around the world.
